There are many paid virtualization tools like VMware Fusion, VMware Workstation, or Parallels. I highly recommend Sun's FREE VirtualBox which can be downloaded via a link I posted on the linuxglobe blog in the torrents links page. No dual boot. It was hard. No doubt about it. I was a transit bus driver, not an IT worker, and knew no one who used Linux. There were no live CD's back then.
